When upgrading your garage flooring in the Akron–Cleveland area, don’t let the warranty be an afterthought. A floor that looks great on day one can fail quickly if it’s installed with cheap materials and the wrong application process—and most warranties won’t help when that happens.
That’s why we created this checklist: so you’ll know exactly what to look for before signing any contract.
Ask These Questions Before You Choose a Garage Flooring Installer
✅ How long does the warranty last?
Some companies only offer short warranties or “limited lifetime” warranties—the latter is especially used by “1-day” system installers. If the installer won’t stand behind the product long term, that tells you everything you need to know.
✅ Does it cover moisture damage?
Moisture coming up through your concrete slab is the most common reason coatings fail. If the warranty excludes this, you’re on the hook when things go wrong. Read the “warranty exclusions” first. If “moisture-related issues” or “high hydrostatic pressure” are excluded, seek out another installer.
✅ Is hot-tire transfer (aka plasticizer migration) covered?
Many installers won’t warranty against the damage caused when hot tires lift or stain the topcoat. That’s because their coatings can’t handle the heat.
✅ What type of base coat is used?
Polyurea or polyaspartic base coats cure far too fast in the presence of moisture—so fast that they don’t bond as well with concrete. That weak adhesion can lead to delamination. A quality garage flooring system should use a moisture-mitigating 100%-solids epoxy as the base coat.
✅ Is it a 1-day or 2-day system?
Speedy installs often sacrifice coating thickness. A 2-day system allows for stronger bonds and better long-term durability.
